FAQs

Frequently asked Questions and general facts 🙂

What’s this blog all about?
Sew, Cook, Create! Sewing, cooking and creating. Simple right? That’s the general gist of the blog though there are random bits thrown in there too. A good friend of ours gave me this advice ‘blog for yourself, not for others that you think may be reading.’ It’s place for us to write our thoughts and ideas; mostly cooking related as I have been cooking considerably longer than I have been sewing. But we didn’t want to leave it there. Branden will share reviews on movies we’ve seen, tv shows we’re watching and what books we’ve been reading. B is also into comics so every now and then you’ll see a write up about his favourite series.

Do you recommend substitutions in your recipes?
I personally suggest sticking as strictly to the recipe the first time when making anything. Allergies, different tastes (and often kids) don’t always allow for this though. We also use some imported ingredients from the USA. If you find something you think works better for you, let me know in the comments section of the particular recipe post. I love hearing how inventive people can be with cooking!

I have a question, how do I ask you or Branden?
Comment on a specific blog post or Email us. We love emails. We can’t promise to respond personally to everyone but we will try. Email sewcookcreate@gmail.com

How did you and Branden meet?
Branden and I met online back in March 2005. I had recently become a member of an online art community and we somehow ended up finding each other; we were originally attracted to the signatures we had at the bottom of our posts – both relating to the Bible or Christianity. We pursued a friendship over various forms of chat, long emails and eventually telephone calls and hours spent on Skype. I flew to Florida, USA on March 6th 2009 and Branden and i both agree we knew the moment we saw each other that we would spend the rest of our lives together. Fast-forward 2 years and we’re married! Branden made the move to Aus after the long Visa process on September 6th, 2010.

How long have you been married?
We were married on March 4th, 2011. A beautiful Autumn day spent surrounded by our closest friends and family. Want to see more? Head on over to here –>(Link coming soon) Warning, geeky-goodness is about to be enjoyed.

So Branden really helps in the Kitchen?
Ahuh! I’m blessed, i know. We have various tasks we usually try to stick to, like B will dice and cook the onion while i work on a sauce or something like that. We make a pretty good team and i love that although Branden is still relatively new to cooking he is still willing to give anything a go (as long as it sounds tasty!)

You cook a lot. Do you have a favourite thing to make?
Desserts. I love baking!!! Branden’s favourite food ever would probably be Brownies, so i love experimenting with different ingredients to make a scrumptious moist Brownie.

Now if you asked me what my favourite thing to eat is, I’d say Spaghetti Bolognese or Chicken pie!

Those awesome photos on your blog, did you take them?
You betcha! Branden takes majority of the photos, but every now again you’ll see something i’ve shot pop up.  All our photos are protected by the Creative Commons License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/

How often is your blog updated?
We will try to update regularly; at least once a week. Branden has his ‘My Guy Friday’ guest posts and i will try to post something sewing related once a month too.  We’re still new to this so our posts may be a bit sporadic to start with and we also currently work full time so we have to make sure we have our priorities right 🙂
